Chateau Chizay's vineyards among the world's 50 most beautiful wine landscapes
The vineyards of Chateau Chizay in Zakarpattia, Western Ukraine, have been recognized as one of the 50 most beautiful wine landscapes in the world. They now represent Ukraine in the permanent exhibition at La Cité du Vin – the world center of wine culture in Bordeaux, France.
This recognition is an important signal for Ukrainian wine production. It highlights not only the unique landscape and terroir of the region but also the traditions of viticulture and the high professional level being developed in Ukraine.

Zakarpattia is a historical wine region where wine traditions have been shaped over generations. Today, these traditions are combined with modern approaches to winemaking and sustainable work in the vineyards.
The founder of Chateau Chizay, Gennadiy Gutman, has often emphasized the importance of nature and the landscape surrounding the vineyards for winemaking. The vineyards are described as a place where nature and human effort meet – a landscape shaped through many years of work and care for the land.
The representation of the vineyards at La Cité du Vin means that Ukraine is also part of the global narrative of wine culture and history.
For Loza AS, it is important to share such stories. Behind every wine region there are people, traditions, and landscapes that are part of a larger cultural heritage.
Through our work, we aim to help more people in Norway learn about Ukraine's wine tradition and history.
